Lolita fashion (^^,)\/

well, for this i write in english although my english is bad. :P
because my Goodread's fellas wanna see lolita's fashion so i must write in english.
caroline(wisconsin) and christina(canada) :))

Actually i just know about lolita fashion three years ago, its because one of my besties (jessy) show me this, and its interesting i could say.
Because its like combination among classic, sweet, and fabulous! :D
like u guys know i love ribbon, and lacy. every kind like that.. and i also like chobit style. its sweet and gorgeous i think. ^^

and i start to like lolita fashion. but i prefer the classic one. its look simple, classic but sweet. i dont like something that too glamour, crowded and jazzy. hmmp..
and i also like pastel colour. i dont like bright or dark colour. it just not me. :b

So,,
as a fashion going mainstream, what are its characteristics and how many styles it has under its umbrella?

Generally, Lolita clothing is decorated with elegant lace, bows and ruffles. And it has three main style types including classic Lolita, sweet Lolita and gothic. Each type of Lolita style has its own characteristic as below.
lolita is divided into 3 types:
1. sweet
2. classic
3. gothic

some of the picts are random. lol. sorry.

1. Sweet Lolita
Typical style: clothing in pink, sky blue or white + blush in rose color + flattie with round head shoe + colored stocking + dress with a lot of lace

Sweet Lolita is mainly in pink, sky blue and white color. The dress is attached with a lot of beautiful lace, in the aiming of creating an image as lovely as a doll. Ruffles, bouffant skirts and puff sleeve are all common designs in sweet Lolita clothing. Whether using chiffon or silk, designers all like to add multi-layer design in. Sweet Lolita is actually something that the wearer could use to express their sentiment and inner world. When wearing this type of dress, you could feel like a princess living in a castle far away. Quite a great option to make our young and beautiful fancy dream come true!

When choose other accessories to go with sweet Lolita dressing, it is suggested that we choose tone as simple as possible since the clothing is already with rich colors.

2. Classic Lolita

Typical Style: Clothing in simple style + natural makeup + soft and comfy brocade + some lace

Classic Lolita is a more mature style of Lolita that focuses on Baroque, Regency, and Rococo styles. Colors and patterns used in classic Lolita can be seen as somewhere between the Gothic and sweet styles; it is not as dark as Gothic Lolita, but not as cutesy as sweet Lolita. This look can be seen as the more sophisticated, mature Lolita style because of its use of small, intricate patterns, as well more muted colors on the fabric and in the overall design.

Designs containing a-lines, as well as Empire waists are also used to add to the more mature look of the classic style. Most classic Lolita outfits, however, still stick to the basic Lolita silhouette. Shoes and accessories are less whimsical and more functional. Jewelry with intricate designs is also common. The makeup used in classic Lolita is often a more muted version of the sweet Lolita makeup, with an emphasis placed on natural coloring.

3. Elegant Gothic Lolita

Typical style: clothing in dark color + dark makeup

This Gothic fashion has been adopted into the Lolita fashion through the use of darker make up, clothing, and themes in the design. Darker colors are used for makeup. Red lipstick and smoky or neatly defined eyes, created using black eyeliner, are typical styles. The Gothic Lolita makeup is not as heavy or dramatic as the Western Gothic counterparts. Newer makeup styles emphasize lighter colors but still retain the heavy eye makeup.

The outfits themselves usually use dark color schemes like black, dark blues and purples; often with accents of white. As with western gothic subculture, cross jewelry and other religious symbols are also used to accessorize the gothic Lolita look. Other accessories, like bags and purses, are often in uncommon shapes like bats, coffins, and crucifixes.

Although Lolita fashion is a subculture originated in Japan, the trend has currently spread throughout the entire world, especially among the young people. No longer a fashion confined within Japan, it has became more and more popular in United States, United Kingdom, Canada and a lot of other countries due to the fast development of internet and media industry. Of course, we have to say the celebrities from entertainment world have contributed a lot to it. A lot of designers have started adding Lolita elements to the dresses as we can see more models wearing Lolita style dresses walking on the runway. Some we can name are Gemma Ward, Jassica Stam, Sasha Pivovarova and Heather Marks.
